Along with an athlete's demanding schedule, the intimidation factor usually keeps them from going to a studio to take a class. Doctor's highly recommend yoga for everyone, but they especially encourage it for athletes. There are many different perceptions about yoga, but the benefits are remarkable! Understanding key tactics can make stretching so much more effective. I've had amazing results with working through existing injuries, reducing back pain, and increasing speed. I want to see athletes stay in the game rather than sitting on the bench. You can learn so much in a seminar from me or a couple classes. While it's easier to practice yoga together, you can apply what I teach on your own!
Hello friends… I’m Kara.
I am an anatomy-based yoga instructor and I care more about how you feel rather than how you look. My passion for teaching is because of how great I feel after dealing with significant health issues and being in a severe car accident a few years back. What I’ve learned gave me my life back and I’m excited to share that with others! What are the benefits? Simple…1 Increased range of motion… 2 Injury prevention… 3 Muscle recovery. The results don’t lie. I’ve worked with kids who are just starting to putting muscle on up to my oldest client, who was 95. Even my 95 year old was able to greatly increase their range of motion and regain healthy posture! Let’s face it, life’s repetitious moves damage us and gravity is not our friend. I’m excited for you to give this a try…please don’t be intimidated as I was when I started and remember a little stretching goes a long way! You can try a full class or take it in small steps. Anything is better than nothing…
CHARLOTTE RUSH USPHL HOCKEY
Love working with the returning 2017 USPHL Championship teams! Both teams are dedicated athletes who see the benefits of yoga and desire comprehensive training both on the ice and off the ice. Since incorporating my training consistently, they have minimal muscular injuries which keeps their bench full.

BASEBALL AND TRACK
I’ve worked with several baseball players and teams. Obviously, they need speed and agility but many have several issues with shoulders, elbows and backs. They also usually forget to think about focusing on having a healthy spine to help generate the most powerful swing. Once I’m able to break down the poses and relate them to their specific moves, they then are able to see the difference on the field and in the gym.
Some of my clients prefer to train more privately which also allows more one on one, body specific training. I live near the Arboretum and have a home studio which holds up to 8. I supply all of the equipment you would need and clients also have access to my infrared sauna. It's a peaceful private place to do a small class with more of a personal touch.
THUNDER AAA TIER 1 HOCKEY
I am able to travel to educate and train teams like I do with the Thunder AAA hockey association. Adding yoga to training camps is a great way to educate teams how to properly stretch. TPH is a AAA Tier 1 hockey program that utilizes me to train several of their teams during training camps and combine weekends.
Yoga is NOT about perfection...it's about practicing. For every good picture there are 10 bloopers. Learning to laugh at ourselves is a gift. Life is short....try new things!
While I adapt my stretches to be sport specific, I believe strongly that everything builds off the foundation of a healthy spine. Unfortunately, too many athletes and adults have trouble with their backs, which affects training and performance plus life in general. I make sure their backs are healthy and then focus on the muscles and joins that take the most pressure from their sport.
